Rooms

Sixteen. Twelve face south. Four do not, and those four are the quiet ones and the cool ones in July.

A larch-lined room with the low bed under the window

First floor, six rooms

Steinmatt

The six on the first floor, all lined in larch cut in 1961 and never painted. The grain has gone the colour of weak tea, which takes sixty years and cannot be bought.

  • How manySix
  • Size22 to 25 square metres
  • BedOne double, or two singles pushed apart
  • WindowSouth or west, all six with a balcony
  • BathShower, heated floor

Second floor, six rooms

Gornerli

Six on the second floor, relined in 2014 in pale ash because the original larch on that floor had been papered over in the 1980s and did not survive coming back.

  • How manySix
  • Size20 to 24 square metres
  • BedOne double
  • WindowFour south, two north
  • BathShower, two with a bath as well

Third floor, four rooms

Dachstube

Four under the roof. Head height at the eaves is 1.7 metres, the ceiling follows the pitch, and all four have the deep dormer that this roof form allows.

  • How manyFour
  • Size18 to 21 square metres
  • BedOne double
  • WindowDormer, south
  • BathShower only

In all sixteen

  • A wardrobe deep enough for ski clothing, with a rail that will take a wet jacket.
  • Windows that open inward, so a drift against the glass does not stop them.
  • Heated bathroom floors, which matter more than anything else in the room in January.
  • No television anywhere in the house. There is a room off the stube with books in it.

Arriving

Rooms from three in the afternoon, and we ask for them back by eleven. The train from Täsch runs every twenty minutes. Electric taxis meet it, and it is eight flat minutes on foot if you would rather walk. Tell us the train and somebody will be at the station.

Skis and boots

The drying room on the ground floor takes sixteen pairs of boots on heated racks and runs all night. Skis go to the village depot at the lift station, which is included and which is a better arrangement than carrying them through the village twice a day.

Summer

We open from late June to mid October and from mid November to the end of April. In summer the rooms are cheaper, the valley is green to 2,600 metres, and the walking starts at the door.

Gaming takes place in one room of this chalet and nowhere else in it. The Thoughtaccess Room runs no game over the internet, holds no account and settles no payment through this website.
